Beaumaris
A Couple of years ago we stayed in Snowdonia for a week, and one day made our way across the Menai Bridge. After the obligatory stop at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch and photos of the station nameplate, we made our way to Beaumaris for a fascinating trip around the castle. The castle is famous for never being finished as money and supplies both ran out long before the fortifications reached their full height. The castle saw little action and as a result it still demonstrates perfect symmetry in its concentric walls. By the time we left the castle it was late afternoon and we were gasping for a drink. The young lady in the castle shop recommended a local teashop nearby and we found ourselves at one of the best tearooms we have ever visited. If you ever go to the Isle of Anglesey, do not miss Beau’s Tea Rooms, in Castle Street, the beautiful mis-matched china is worth the visit alone, and the food is fabulous!
