Alan Godfrey has published three versions of this map, showing how the area developed across the years. The maps each cover the same area, stretching from High Street North at East Ham eastward to Barking station; and from Jersey Road and Manor Park Athletic Grounds southward to Caulfield Road.
The River Roding runs north-south through the centre of the map, East Ham to one side, Barking to the other. Features include East Ham and Barking stations, Linton Road, East Street, Uphall chemical works, various works beside the Roding, railway junctions, housing development at East Ham. The 1894 version also includes a large extract of Essex sheet 73.12 to the south, showing more of Barking incl St Margaret's church, White Gate Bridge, also of East Ham incl Wallend. If you are only buying one map we therefore recommend the 1894 version.
The map links up with London Sheets 34 Ilford to the north, 43 Forest Gate to the west, and Essex Sheets 86.04 Upney to the east and 86.07 East Ham & Barking South to the south.

National Geographic published this classic world map in December 1943, in the midst of WWII. Compared to many of the other world maps by the National Geographic Society, this one had a decidedly dark cast, possibly a reflection of the tone of discouragement felt by many as the War continued on. A perfect companion to the World maps of 1951 and 1970.

The North African campaign was just drawing to a close when this map was published in February of 1943 to accompany an article entitled "Africa, First of 1943 Global Warfare Maps." A great addition to any World War II map collection, and a compelling companion to the earlier and later National Geographic maps of the "Dark Continent."

This very detailed map covers the old village of Billingham, with St Cuthbert's church and The Green in the top left corner. Coverage then extends south to the Billingham Beck and east to Haverton Hill Road and the Billingham Beck railway line. However, much of the map is taken up with the extraordinary industrial complex of ICI - Imperial Chemical Industries - which ran east from Chiltons Avenue. Billingham by 1939 was very much a company town. (The new town centre will be on a later map for Billingham North). The map is therefore crowded with railway tracks, gasometers and unidentified industrial plant. Also includes an historical introduction to Billingham from a 1894 map (when the town was a village) and a directory of the town in 1934.The map links up with Sheet 50.08 Norton to the west.'

Never before reprinted, the Bigot Plans prepared by the Geographical Section General Staff for the Allied Invasion in 1944, were classified Top Secret and issued under the highest level of "Need to Know". The maps are packed with detail, much of it obtained by the local Resistance, and show the terrain, obstacles and defences that the Allied Forces were expected to meet. They will be of great interest to historians and to all who are interested in tracing those historic days. This small series of reprints are taken from the 1:25, 000 maps and printed in colour, eg showing defences as Blue = confirmed, and Purple = not confirmed. Covers the area around Benouville and Ranville, and is centred on what is now know as Pegasus Bridge. It was the scene of the heroic glider landings that have been called "the greatest feat of flying of WWII". The map is double-sided and covers the area from Ouistreham in the north, southward to Herouvillette, and westward to Cazelle. Includes background notes on the Allied invasion, its mapping requirements, the significance of the area in this map and on the remarkable action resulting in the capture of the bridge.
