Never before reprinted, the Bigot Plans prepared by the Geographical Section General Staff for the Allied Invasion in 1944, were classified Top Secret and issued under the highest level of "Need to Know". The maps are packed with detail, much of it obtained by the local Resistance, and show the terrain, obstacles and defences that the Allied Forces were expected to meet. They will be of great interest to historians and to all who are interested in tracing those historic days. This small series of reprints are taken from the 1:25, 000 maps and printed in colour, eg showing defences as Blue = confirmed, and Purple = not confirmed. Covers the area around Benouville and Ranville, and is centred on what is now know as Pegasus Bridge. It was the scene of the heroic glider landings that have been called "the greatest feat of flying of WWII". The map is double-sided and covers the area from Ouistreham in the north, southward to Herouvillette, and westward to Cazelle. Includes background notes on the Allied invasion, its mapping requirements, the significance of the area in this map and on the remarkable action resulting in the capture of the bridge.
