This detailed map is double-sided to provide maximum coverage. The main map covers the area from Thorpe Hesley eastward to Scholes, and beyond that to Scholes Paddock and Middle Common. Features within the main settlement, Thorpe Hesley, include Holy Trinity church, Holmes Farm, while to the south are the small Scholes Colliery and Scholes Old Colliery. On the reverse is half of adjacent sheet 288.04 extending coverage west to include Hesley Hall, Smithy Wood and Smithy Wood Colliery.
The map links up with Yorkshire Sheet 289.02 Greasborough to the east.
