These detailed maps maps normally cover an area of about one and a half miles by one mile. Each map includes an introduction. The Middlesex maps link up with those for London to form a major series for the Greater London area.
Colney Hatch Lane runs up the centre of the map, and off it Friern Barnet South is in the process of development. In the SE corner of the map is part of the Alexandra Park (Alexandra Palace itself is split by the sheetlines). The rest of the map is largely undeveloped, with the railway disappearing into tunnels. Coppetts Road runs up the left side of the map; Bounds Green Pottery is in the NE corner. Streets include Cromwell Road and Sydney Road.
The map links up with Middlesex Sheet 7.13 Friern Barnet to the north; and with London Sheets 5 Finchley to the west, 7 Wood Green to the east, and 11 Muswell Hill to the south.
