The Ryukyu Islands are included as an inset at 1:4,000,000. The main map shows the country’s network of main roads and railway connections on a base with relief shading to indicate the topography. Main sights are highlighted. Insets cover in greater detail the Tokyo Area (1:750,000) and Kansai Area around Osaka (1:250,000), as well as a street plan of Kobe at 1:15,000. On the reverse are large street plans of central Tokyo (1:17,500), Kyoto (1:20,00) and Osaka (1:15,000). The plans give names of wards and districts, as well as main and many smaller streets. All three are annotated with numerous places of interest, hotels shopping facilities, etc. None of the maps of plans are indexed. Most inset maps and street plans give the names of visitor attractions/place names with their Japanese equivalents. Hotel names and places of official public buildings only appear transliterated.
