Unlike the tube map which is an underground linkage map designed in the 1930's the all-on-one is a 21st century overground or surface map based on today's centres of activity in London 'called nodes' which are connected by bus routes and rail/underground links. Thus the map is much more realistic about the true geography of London although we do expand the central area where the density of people and activity are the highest. Significantly we take a user or traveller's view rather than an operator's view such as TfL. This independence allows us to integrate the transport pattern more easily than worrying about corporate objectives of separate identities for the tube etc. You and I just want to get there and get home again! Because the transport network of a great city like London is so rich there are many options available if one or more links go down. The benefit of the all-on-one is that because of its long lasting pocket format you can always have it with you when you need it. The freebie download shows you what the map is like but may get easily crumpled (depending on the paper you print it on) and so is less likely to find itself in your pocket in 3 weeks or three months time when your train has been cancelled and you need to find some other way home. So do get the download but do also consider the proper covered pocket map itself. Having alternative transport options on your person will make you and the people you can advise around you, feel more secure and ultimately help restore yours and others enjoyment of living, visiting and working in London.
