This is a trekking map with relief shading, has contour lines at 20 m. intervals and contains a great deal of information. The area covered is one of the nature jewels of Cordillera Cantabrica, as it is home to the main group of brown bears of Western Europe, as well as to many other endangered species. The largest well-preserved mountain oak forest in Western Europe, Bosque de Muniellos, is also here. The dense mountainous net that fills up the whole area, with dozens of valleys and ravines, and a very scarce population -less than 5.000 people in 500 square kilometres- has helped to preserve one the best ecosystems in Spain. Of course, this density of mountains offers plenty of opportunities for trekkers, including the brand new GR 203.
