This full colour atlas combines large scale road mapping (1.5 inches to 1 mile) of the whole of the Isle of Wight with an illustrated town plan section to provide an informative tourist guide. The Introduction on pages 2 & 3 provides a brief history of the island and this is followed by Travel and Transport information including ferry links and transport around the island itself. The fourteen Map Pages include highlighting of the locations of places of interest and tourist venues. On page 23 is the Index to Towns, Villages, Hamlets & Locations and on the next page is a list of Camping and Caravan sites together with addresses and telephone numbers. The 32 page Town Plan section features street mapping of Bembridge, Brading, Cowes, Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Seaview, Shanklin, St. Helens, Totland and Freshwater, Yarmouth and Ventnor. Each town plan has descriptive text relating to the general history of the area together with listings of places of interest, sport and leisure facilities and entertainment venues. Where appropriate telephone numbers have been included and each town plan has its own street index. The Guide to Places of Interest starts with a list of tourist information centres and their telephone numbers. Following this each place of interest entry is shown within an alphabetical list of catagories and each has its own map or town plan reference. Most entries have a short descriptive text. Numerous colour photographs of local scenes are a feature of this publication. On the outside back cover of the atlas there is a road map extract giving an overview of the island and its surrounding area.
