This map is the latest in a growing line of ITM Pacific Region maps. The Solomons were first inhabited two thousand years ago and semi-colonized by Spanish and, later, British trading explorers. Head hunting and cannibalism had been known to happen up to the 1920s, although the islands are now very friendly and are a real tourist paradise! The islands came ‘into their own’ during World War II. There was fierce fighting to control the island of Guadalcanal, and several major sea battles in the region, most notably Suva Sea. This map cartographically portrays the entire country and includes many roads and resorts. Paper, single-sided, with an inset map of Honiara; this is a companion map to the Papua New Guinea title.
Legend includes: All roads, tracks / trails, villages, elevation info, accommodation, diving areas, shipwreck sites, points of interest.
