South America is BIG - and this project was BIG too, taking a total of 12 cartographers (spanning the globe from Canada, Vietnam, Russia, Germany, Fiji and Japan) approximately 3 years to finish it. Why so long? Since Kevin's original artwork was manually prepared, we had to create a digital database of our own. We did this by starting with 3 sectional maps (South America North East, South America North West, and South America Southern) at a scale of 1:2,800,000 and combined them into one file with a new scale of 1:4,000,000. You may recall the 3rd edition was a scale of 1:5,000,000. The new map is still a double-sided map, but with far more detail. Plus, this is the largest folded map ITM has ever produced, at 39" x 54" in., and is the most detailed map of South America ever published.
Includes inset map of South America's Political Divisions and Time Zones.
