Satellite images taken of the earth by Landsat 5 at an altitude of 705.5 km above the earth. The photographs are taken using MultiSpectral Scanners (MSS) and Thematic Mapper (TM) sensors. The satellite travels at 27 000 km/hr on a sun-synchronous, near-polar orbit covering the same ground every 16 days.
