Maps Worldwide Associate Program

Terms and conditions for participation in the Maps Worldwide Associate programme.

The term "you", "your" or "participant" applies to you (the applicant) and "we", "our" or "Maps Worldwide" refers to Maps Worldwide. The word "site" refers to either the World Wide Web Site of the applicant or Maps Worldwide.

How to join the Maps Worldwide Associate Programme.

Once you have read this document and accept our terms, click the "I agree" button at the bottom of the page. When you have completed and submitted the form your site will automatically be accepted into the Partnership Programme and an "associate number" will be issued to you. Once registered we will check that your site does not contain content unsuitable for the programme.

If your site is found unsuitable then your account will automatically be closed and you will gain no commission for any products sold through your links.

What must you do?

As a partner you must provide a direct link from the product being promoted on your site to an our online catalogue. This can be to an individual book, our search engine, country directory or to our home page.

It is done via a series of buttons, banners or hyperlinks. You may provide as many links to our site as you like.(Note - our experience suggests that in the travel industry the best return comes from promoting an individual product that you can "recommend").

To accompany the links the partner should wherever possible display either a description, review or reference to the book being promoted. You will have full responsibility for how the books and descriptions on your site are displayed. You may change the books displayed on your site at any time without any need for approval.

Please note that Maps Worldwide takes no responsibility for any errors in the descriptions of the products, nor are we responsible if you use another party's copyrighted material in violation of any law.

Your site

You alone will be responsible for any development, operation and maintenance to your site and any materials that are used in its construction.

Please note this includes, without limitation, any legal fees.

Once an order has been placed

Once a visitor has come through your link and placed an order using our online ordering system, they will then be treated as a normal Maps Worldwide customer. Maps Worldwide will be solely responsible for processing any orders that are placed via a link from your site. This includes accepting the order, fulfilling the order, charging the customer, dispatching the order and dealing with any cancellations, problems or returns in relation to the order.

Any rules or policies of Maps Worldwide regarding customers or accounts will also apply to any orders or accounts that we receive via links on your website. We reserve the right to reject any order that does not comply with our rules, operating procedures and policies and cannot be held responsible for any representations made on your site or otherwise that contradicts our policies.

It is essential that all links are properly formatted and contain your shop number to ensure that the correct commission is calculated. Only products purchased from links directly from links on your site will be eligible for commission.

No commission will be payable if this is not the case.

Please note to comply with the UK Data protection Act, the names and personal information about specific customers will not be provided to the participant.

Commission

To accrue commission to your account the customer must:

  • Come to our site using one of the links on your website,
  • Order a book through our on line ordering system,
  • Pay for and accept delivery of the book ordered.

Once entering our site from a partnership link your visitor is free to browse our site at will. To earn you commission, however, they must place an order within the next 24hours. No commission fees will be paid for:

  • Any orders that are cancelled or for which payment is not received,
  • Any shipping or handling fees applied to the order.
  • Orders from links that are not via referrals directly from your site.

Please note you may not order products for your own use through this assocate until you have received your first commission payment.

Commission rates

All commission will be calculated at 8% of the net retail price of the book purchased.

Please note commission will only be applied to your account when the order has been paid for by the customer.

Our pricing

The price charged for every book sold through this programme will be determined by Maps Worldwide according to current pricing policies. Book prices and availability may vary in accordance with publisher's stock levels and price increases. We will, however, make every effort to ensure that the information displayed on our catalogue is current and accurate. Due to the price changes mentioned we advise that you do not include the cost of the book in your descriptions.

Commission payments

Commission will be paid on a quarterly basis, approximately 30 days after the end on each calendar quarter. Commission will be paid by cheque and will cover all commission earned within the previous quarter less any taxes that are required by law. However, if at the end of the quarter the commission earned is less then £50.00, we will hold the payment until the fees held exceed £50.00. If a product that you have gained commission for is returned by a customer for a full refund then the commission earned will be deducted from the next payment. If there is no next payment you will be billed for the outstanding amount.

Terms of the agreement

The terms and conditions of this agreement will apply from the moment you register your site and gain your shop number, until the moment the agreement is terminated by either party. During this time the agreement may be modified and some of the terms and conditions changed. You will be notified of this by an announcement on our website. If you do not agree with any of the modifications made then you must inform the Partnership Programme Manager immediately. Failure to do this will constitute your binding acceptance of the change.

Website service interruption

While we make every effort to keep our website fully operational 24 hours a day, we may encounter technical difficulties that result in temporary service interruptions. Maps Worldwide will on no account be liable for any consequences of such interruptions.

Termination of this agreement

Either Maps Worldwide or the participant reserves the right to cancel this agreement at any time for any reason. This cancellation must be sent in written form by post or e-mail to the other party.

Please Note: Any commission balance under £50.00 on termination, will not be paid and will be forfeited.
